Live, Laugh And Love

Earlier tonight I was standing at the sink doing dishes and my 20 year old son walked up behind me.  He had his iphone in his hand and it was playing music.

"Dance with me, mom" he said.

So with my wet, sudsy latex gloves on, we danced.  It was silly, it was fun, it was a moment that may never happen again.

It was a moment I will never forget.

I could have said "Are you kidding me?  I don't know how to dance anymore!"

I could have said "Not now, I'm doing the dishes."

I could have said "Did you finish your homework?"

But I didn't.  I lived in the moment and went for it and I danced with my son.

There are times when we have to know when it's time to set aside the "business" of homemaking and parenting and make room for the "fun" of homemaking and parenting.

Parenting is serious business.  So is having fun.

Live in the moment.  Every day.  Look for the special moments that come your way and when they do, grab them with both hands and live, laugh and love.

The Lord has blessed you with this wonderful family.  Don't be afraid to enjoy them.  Yes, laundry, cleaning and dishes have to get done.  But remember, your home doesn't run you. You run your home.

Dance with your son.  Giggle with your daughter.  Laugh with your husband.  Don't worry, the world won't fall apart while you're gone.

And you will make a memory instead of making a regret.

  2. As the mother of three grown sons..this seriously brought tears to my eyes...I can remember times that my boys have done crazy things like this. How wonderful that you stopped what you were doing and took the time to enjoy the moment. ♥
