Kids Then Vs. Kids Now

When the kids are younger you trip over toys, when the kids are older you trip over shoes.

When the kids are younger you change diapers, when the kids are older you change cars.

When the kids are younger you wipe yucky noses, when the kids are older you wipe yucky toilets.

When the kids are younger you say "Don't pick your nose."  When the kids are older you say "Don't pick up hitchhikers."

When the kids are younger you comb their hair, when the kids are older you pull out your hair.

When the kids are younger you have trouble getting them to go to sleep, when the kids are older you have trouble getting them to wake up.

When the kids are younger you reach down to hug them, when the kids are older you reach up to hug them.

When the kids are younger you know where they are, when the kids are older you wonder where they are.

When your sons are younger you laugh when they try on daddy's clothes, when your sons are older you laugh when daddy tries on their clothes.

When the kids are younger they cry when they get a haircut, when the kids are older they cry when they have to pay for their haircut.

When the kids are younger you hold their hand when crossing an icy street, when the kids are older they hold YOUR hand when crossing an icy street.

When the kids are younger you have to fight to get them to take a shower, when the kids are older you have to fight to get them out of the shower.

When the kids are younger they ask "Mommy, can I stay up past my bedtime?"  When the kids are older they ask "Mom, can I stay out past my curfew?"

When the kids are younger you can't wait for them to begin talking, when they're older you can't wait for them to begin listening.

When the kids are younger they hate riding in cars, when the kids are older they love riding in cars.

When the kids are younger one helping is enough, when the kids are older one helping is never enough.

When the kids are younger they call you to ask you to reach something that they can't reach, when the kids are older you call them to reach something that you can't reach.

When the kids are younger you sometimes think that they will never grow up, when the kids are older you wonder how they grew up so fast.

When the kids are younger you kiss them and love them and beg them to never grow old, when the kids are older they kiss you and love you and beg you to never grow old.

What about you?  What "when the kids are younger _______, when the kids are older _________ do YOU have to add?

    1. I know it's a cliche but really, they really DO seem to grow up so fast! Time passes much more quickly when you're order, I think!

  2. That was inspired.

When the six kids were little and chattering at me all the time, I would bite my tongue and try not to tell them to be quiet too many times. Now I wish they would talk to me more.
